How to Sign a Document with GIMP –

Since someone else asked you to sign the document and email it again, you now need to purchase a printer and scanner, print the document, sign and scan it. … no! stop!

Why was the laptop able to digitally sign documents? All you need is a signature image, a PDF you want to sign, and a GIMP.

A document in PDF format is required to digitally sign the document.

With a pen tablet, you can easily add a signature to your document. The vast majority of people who don't have such equipment take a signature picture on their smartphone and save it in JPEG format.

There are a lot of software that can sign documents. This tutorial shows how to add a signature using GIMP.

Getting Started

Run GIMP and select “File-> Openv… Use ”to find, select and open the PDF you want to sign.

The PDF in this example has a single page. If you have more, select "Open Page: Layer". Leave the rest of the options as they are and click "Import".

If a document consists of more than one page thanks to previous documents, selecting the selected option will result in individual pages in the Layers panel on the right. Is displayed. Switch visibility using the small "eye" icon on the left side of each layer.

Use "File-> Open as Layer …" again to find the signature image and import it into the new layer.

Play as layer

Left click on the newly imported signature layer and drag it up or down in the layer list to move it directly above the page layer you want to sign. To find the correct icon, you need to click on the "eye" icon and release it.

Reduce opacity to make deployment easier. Using the bar at the top of the Layers panel, use the signature layer's "Move" tool ("M" on the keyboard) to move the signature layer to where you want it to appear on the page.

You may need to select the "Go" tool again to better reposition the signature on the page . When satisfied with the placement, return the layer's opacity to 100%.

Sign documents using Gimp Signature Sort

It's time to start the magic trick! Others say you need a transparent PNG of your signature. This is not the case if the signature is black or blue ink on a white paper, as in 99.9%.

Note the “Mode” pull-down menu at the top of the layer panel. With the signature layer selected, change its mode from "Normal" to "Progress Only". Any white space around the signature is ignored and effectively changed to transparent, and the signature is "dark" just below the layer. [방금 선택한 모드가 그랬습니다.]

That's it! To complete the changes, right-click on the signature layer and select "Merge Down" to combine the signature with the page.

Select "File-> Export As …" and give the newly signed document a different name. As it is. Export it back to this format using "PDF" as the extension.

Signing documents with Gimp export layers as pages

Gimp-affected page signatures now export all layers as pages in a new PDF. If you kept your signature on your own layer, you would have exported it to your own page without "burning in" where you wanted it.

Except for a very useful and very simple task, what we've seen is used as evidence that GIMP can do almost anything, such as saving a file to a webp or making a GIF from a video file.
