OneDrive Personal Vault brings added security to your most important files and OneDrive gets additional storage options

With the growing presence and sophistication of online threats, it is increasingly important to have the right protection and tools to help protect your devices, personal information and files so they are not compromised. Today, we are pleased to announce OneDrive Personal Vault, a new security layer that comes to your personal OneDrive account to further protect your most important and important files.

We are also increasing the OneDrive independent storage plan from 50 GB to 100 GB at no additional charge, and we are providing Office 365 subscribers with a new option to add more storage as needed.

OneDrive Personal Vault

OneDrive runs on Microsoft's trusted cloud, which has many security measures in place to keep your files safe. But we understand that some people want more protection for their most important and confidential files, so we are introducing Personal Vault.

Personal Vault is a protected area in OneDrive that you can only access with a strong authentication method or second step of identity verification, such as your fingerprint, face, PIN or a code that was sent to you by email or SMS. 1 Your locked files in Personal Vault have an additional layer of security, keeping them more secure in the event that someone gains access to your account or device.

In addition, this additional security does not mean an additional inconvenience. All your documents, photos and videos in Personal Vault are easy to access on Onedrive.com, your PC or capable devices. 2

Personal Vault adds to the robust privacy and security that OneDrive currently offers, including encryption of idle files, suspicious activity monitoring, ransomware detection and recovery, notification and mass recovery of deleted data. files, download virus detection for known threats and version history for all types of files.

Easy to use

Just enter a PIN or use your fingerprint, face or a code sent by email or SMS 1 to unlock and access your files, it is not necessary to remember several passwords . In addition, Personal Vault can be unlocked with the Microsoft Authenticator application. Whichever way you choose, unlocking is fast, convenient and helps protect your data.

Scan and shoot directly in the Personal Vault

You can use the OneDrive application for mobile devices to scan documents, take photos or record videos directly to your personal vault, keeping them away from less secure areas of your device, such as the roll Your camera. It is easy to scan important travel documents, identification, vehicle, home, insurance and more directly into your personal Vault. And you will have access to these documents wherever you go, through your capable devices. 2

Additional protection on and off your PC

Personal Vault uses more than just a two-step verification to help keep your files safe and private. On PCs running Windows 10, OneDrive synchronizes your Personal Vault files with an area encrypted with BitLocker from your local hard drive. And like all the files in OneDrive, the contents of your personal Vault are encrypted in the Microsoft cloud and in transit to your device. For more protection on mobile devices, we recommend that you enable encryption on your iOS or Android device. Together, these measures help keep your files protected even if your Windows 10 PC or mobile device is lost, stolen or someone gains access to them.

Automatic blocking after a short period of inactivity

The personal Vault is automatically blocked again on your PC, device or online after a short period of inactivity. Once locked, any file you are using will also be blocked and will require a new authentication to access. It is not necessary to worry about whether you left your personal vault or your file open, both will be closed and automatically blocked after inactivity. 3
