A few years ago, the PowerPoint team opted for artificial intelligence (AI) and began the effort of the PowerPoint Designer. We aim to help our clients overcome some of the fears surrounding the construction of an effective slide by offering suggested slide designs. We start by making the photo slides convincing, and eventually add capabilities to transform the text slides into their more visual, and hopefully shocking, counterparts, such as process diagrams and deadlines. More recently, we began to complement the text with iconography.
Today, we are pleased to share that not only have we reached an important milestone in the use of PowerPoint Designer, but we are also announcing new Designer capabilities that suggest high-quality content for startup. Creation and provides perspective suggestions for quantitative content. And yes, in a moment of "but wait, there's more," we're ready to share that our AI effort is moving beyond the designer, with our new presenter trainer, aimed at helping our users build confidence in their presentation skills.

Each day, Designer offers millions of slide suggestions to PowerPoint users. When someone chooses to insert a design suggestion, we know that we have provided value. The designer's AI chooses the most suitable designs for the content, trims the images intelligently and automatically recommends the relevant icons and images. Organizations can design their templates for optimal Designer support, expanding the options available to their users.

Ideas for Designer themes are now being deployed in PowerPoint for Windows, Mac, and on the web for Office 365 subscribers.
Make data easy to understand by adding Designer perspectives to your slides
The presentation of data in slide covers can be difficult because people have difficulty conceptualizing large and unknown measurements. Studies published by Microsoft Research have shown that adding relatable references for large numerical values makes information easier to understand and increases retention. That's why we added this capability in PowerPoint Designer!
Thanks to an integration with the perspective engine of Microsoft Research, the designer can now recognize when a slide contains a large number that can be difficult to interpret and put in context by automatically increasing the text with the corresponding perspective . With the additions of perspectives, Designer makes number slides more digestible and helps presenters to transmit their information effectively. For example: the size of Afghanistan, which is 652,232 km², is difficult to interpret, but adding that it is "almost equal to the size of Texas" makes it easily understandable. These relative measures now appear automatically in Designer.
The designer's perspectives are currently being extended to Office 365 subscribers. The designer's perspectives are currently only available in English.
